I kind of took today off. N was out of town and I wasn't feeling well last night. I slept in, did a bit of tidying and getting kids fed, and then headed outside with A in the carrier to get some quiet while I mowed the lawn (with a reel mower). I skipped watering the garden because I watered it so late yesterday and there is rain in the forecast.
We had a little lunch and I started some baking: bread in the breadmaker, and squash, banana bread, and chocolate cake in the oven. Then the kids and I headed outside to enjoy the back yard. They filled the little tub with water, donned goggles, and stuck their heads under water. M and S tried talking to each other under water. R grabbed a scrub brush and scrubbed the outside of the tub. Everyone was pretty chilly by the time we went in. I sent them up for showers while I made dinner: baked potatoes, yams, zucchini in butter with herbs from the garden, and fried eggs. The yams were leftovers, so the dinner was pretty easy to make, and the clean up wasn't too bad. Unfortunately, the fresh air and water play didn't really tire them out, so they were up for quite a while after bedtime. Ugh.
